Hi all,

Well at Salute i managed to pick up a few bits to kick off the 'Very British Civil War' in 10mm, probably using flying lead/ memoirs based rules to play various sized battles.

i pick up the new SCW figures in puffed trousers and chip-bag hats to use as the 'BUF' troops, painted black with some red piping, thins the box comes with HMGs support, add to this some PzIIs painted in British Green and some armoured car support

Late WW1 British will become regulars, Guard troops loyal to the King (and allied grudginly with the BUF) this comes with HMG, Artillery and Lancers... a nice Flying Column to take on the Rebellion

Late WW1 Americans will become the Anglican League troops, mostly in civilian garb using Army webbing, didnt notice any cavalry but should have HMg support at least, if not Artillery... Light Vickers (no pun intended) tank support maybe? and armoured cars

WW1 Russians will be painted blue to use as my Communists Workers party, again HMG and Artillery support, with some Cossack styled cavalry... these may get armoured cars, and eventually some T26 Light tanks (oops there is alwasy something to forget in the rush!!)

Double decker buses will follow shortly as transports as will more vehicles in logistical roles....

the idea is to base as per our WW2 stuff (meaning my Fallshirmjagers may get a new lease of life) so..

Rifle groups of 4 figures on a 40x20
Smg/LMG groups of 2 figures on a 20x20
HMG group of 1 gun and crew on a 20x20
Artillery have been 1 gun and crew on 20x40.. but may change to a 40x40 for diaramic needs
Vehicles not usally mounted

Bases form into Platoons a la FOW rules, so...

SMg (command)
LMG plus 2 rifles per squad...

3 squads per platoon...

Under equiped plattons loose the LMG per squad, moving a single LMG onto the command Smg base

(under equiped means that the i run out of figure carrying LMGs  :))

Support platoons are added at company level... as are Tanks/Armoured cars...

Well thats the plan anyway :) will get sorting and basing one of the factions... the Guards are calling to be honest  :)

Cheers Shaun

All sounds good to me Shaun. My plan is loosely as follows:

WWII Brits for regular infantry and guards units.
WWI Brits for Territorials.
WWI Cavalry for Yeomanry
SCW International Brigades with some WWI for Local Defence Volunteers.
SCW Milicianos for local Militias
A mix of SCW and WWI Germans for BUF.

Add in WWI armoured cars and tanks, SCW armoured trucks and early war tanks such a PZ,1's, Vickers Light tanks and you should have a pretty nice set of forces.

Cheers for these lists guys, I'll keep this thread on one side in case people ask for recommendations.

Morning,

The Late WW1 British pack was last opened, sorted and based as a Guards Flying Column.

In the box (in the order i based them) are 15 Lance armed helmeted cavalry, these were based in pairs on 20x20 bases, with an extra figure from the RUssina box in a flat cap to act as the CO.

3 HMG based on 20x20 bases.

3 ARTillery guns with crew on 20x 40 bases.

1 Company command base on a 40x20 base with 4 figures. there is an officer in cap standing and a helmeted pistol firer with 2 rifle men.

3 platoons each of 1 Platoon command stand of officer and rifleman on a 20x20 base and six bases of 4 riflemen on 40x20 bases.

This provides a nice reinforced company and a small shopping list of LMG helmeted figures (BP2), the British High command pack (BP23?) and possibly the Limber pack to haul the Artillery around.

NExt up for basing will be....... The Anglican League (using WW1 American box)
