Am I right in stating there is a shortage of bridges in 10mm scale ? My son unearthed some lenths of Bellona river at a car boot sale, I began to draw a template for the table that would use river and bridges . Not just N gauge type railway structures, but rustic  double arch road bridges....and pontoons! - Can we have an image of PS12 please ? You can have a great game around a pontoon bridge scanario

A quick look at Timecast shows some very nice rustic single span models,(paint up well as Cotswold stone for VBCW) and Hovels have a bargin basement in 1/200 at £3.
Any other models worth considering?

Ps12 is an old style wooden pontoon bridge, not a metal Bailey Bridge - its OK

Bridges are fairly scale agnostic - I have picked up various bridges over from different places, including a HO scale railway bridge, which looks fine in 10mm. many bridges sold as 10mm are actually rather small and look like little bridges over streams on the battlefield.

I have an old Airfix HO/OO metal girder bridge that looks fine for 10mm. I can get two Panthers side by side with room to spare, so looks good to me.

There's reasonable choices out there for stone arch bridges; I use N -scale RR bridges for moderns.  Pontoons and bridge sections for the various armies of wwII would be nice.

Hi James/Sunray

Further to my pm, I came across some 1/144 stuff that might fit your needs.

It's on eBay at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-144-CGD-Country-Bridge-Diorama-/270708780210?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f07802cb2,

The seller has flat rate postage so if you can find other things you like it might make the cost and postage seem more reasonable, like the flak piece or town ruins.

.

These are all apparently done by Shapeways in 3d printing.

There's also this one:-

Many thanks for all the images and info - but a Bailey in 10mm ! Now that woul be something.  If I make that an official request to Leon, will anyone second the motion?

I've actually had another chap asking about bridges recently, so it's something I'm hoping to have a look at over the Xmas period I think.

That last pic is of our PS12 Bridge, 1-144th Direct sells our stuff on eBay.

I'll buy some bailey bridges, but don't forget that other country's bridging kit could be quite different, so consider a couple of choices.

Also, I know the lighter German bridges (at least) had special trailers for the pontoons. That sort of kit for the pioneers building the bridge would be good to indicate that they are at work (depending on one's rules).

Finally, remember that a bridge section with pontoons could also be a ferry.

Sunray

I'll bet the image will now get you some direct sales - always good to cut out the middle man.  And yes, good point about the German stuff.  I have seen images of large rubber dingy type boats being used to carry light bridges....and being used as ferries - especially for recon motorcycle combo units.   I think Skytrex carries them in 15mm ?

The photo above of PS12 is different to the pontoon bridge I got from Pendraken

The one I have is resin (this one looks like metal) and the boats were shallower - is their a second bridge in the range?

Good question Fred, the bridge in the image looks like whitemetal, not resin. Will pass to Leon.

Leon

We changed it over to the metal version a couple of years back, as the resin mould broke, and the metal one looked better.

Hadn't realised it was that long ago!

The metal one does look good, and I will order when on my next order - especially as it is only £3.25 from PD rather than £7 on ebay!!!

Like I always say Leon - get some images of these excellent products on the site, and watch the orders roll in.

I will be ordering one for my December order.
