Basing and magnets

I would like to have 3 infantry figures to a base and be able to remove 1 figure from that base to show casualties, but I'm not sure how to make this work. Has anyone tried this? Any ideas on how it could work?

I was thinking of putting an individual fig on a small washer and it would magnetically adhere to a larger circular magnet (like the ones you put on a fridge) but I'm wondering if the magnetic hold would be enough to keep the washers on while playing.

I am contemplating a similar project that will use a peel and stick magnetic sheet attached to the bottom of the figure piece and I'm going to try the so-called magnetic paint (basically a suspension of iron filings) on the movement tray surface. Since the tray is horizontal hoping that this will work. Anybody tried this?

Not at all.....knowledge is power (at least I read that on the interent!)

I'm not sure that single figures will get much magnetic stick to sheet magnet (aka fridge magnets)

For sheet magnet to stick, it needs a fair area to get decent strength. A 40mm square sticks very strongly, but a 20mm square much less so. So I think a small washer with a figure might struggle to stick.  You should be able to try this on a mock up quite easily, to see if it stays together.

Rare earth magnets are much stronger for their size - and you can get quite thin ones, but not as thin as a washer, but they aren't that cheap.

Another approach (which is not too expensive in 10mm) is to have alternative bases with 2 figures on.

I might just have to place a die on the multi-figure base to represent a downed man or two.

Not sure I want to make this more a hassle than it's worth.

Looking at something like these, however, its for UK pennies. I've emailed them asking if they could make them for US pennies.

Anyone know of another site that makes these sabot bases? Maybe a US retailer?

They do square shaped sabot basing. I wonder if they can do circular sabot bases! I'll email them...thank for the info
