All,

No games this weekend, but I'm back home safe and sound from Ohio, figured I'd post some guys I painted up last weekend.  Ivan and Panda need to actually read the post ;)

Next up on the 20mm carousel is some Elhiem West German troops, and, as a bonus, a Revell plastic 1/72 scale Fox vehicle ("Fuchs").  Let me just get this out of the way: I'm not a modeller.  I'm not good at it, I don't like it, and I don't have the patience for it.  And I keep hearing how 20mm is so attractive because you can pick up stuff in plastic for cheap, but that was not the case here.  In any case, I got it, I put it together, and it works.  Why the Fox vehicle?  Well, it's all my local hobby shop had in 1/72 that would work; I wanted an armored vehicle that was fairly generic (in order to be whatever I wanted it to be), and this fits the bill.

Regarding the figures, once again I don't really have a use for modern (or, in this case, Cold War) German troops for wargaming.  But I really liked the troops, and I wanted something that looked like this to be used in my Balkans campaign, to play the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia troops, and these guys are perfect.

The whole group.  To see a bunch more pics, as well as better pics of a couple guys I'd done previously, please check the blog at:

Sorry the campaign was delayed a week, but things should be back on track, more to come.

Look great to me, Jack.  :-bd

As far as you modeling skills are concerned, I think you're being very harsh on yourself.
Cheers - Phil

Thanks, Phil.

I did get it together.  Well, most of it, anyway.  But you weren't here for all my temper tantrums, gnashing of teeth, throwing things, shouting expletives, etc...  :d :d

Looking good, which manufacture are they?

bigjackmac

That's funny, Phil!

JC - the figures are 20mm Elhiem, while the truck is 1/72 from Revell.

Wow, those look great JC! We need to see some battle reports with them ;)

Unfortunatley I  was not making battle report in that early period of the hobby... oooh well: I have one report about G.I.JOE 1/72 conversions (based in the comics from the 90st.. you know M-16, green soldiers and the basic Joes) based in the number 7? of the regular serie. When Gijoe helped by afgans goes to Afganistan to retrieve a technological Macguffin (a high tech vehicle or something) and Cobra aslo want the thing. There is a third party of Soviets (October guard) who fight for the technology.

The battle report is somewhere http://warmaster-acolytes.mforos.com/1777970/9443627-smell-of-napalm-g-i-joe-to-fail-is-to-conquer-to-succeed-is-to-die/

I used the Smell of Napalm rulesets. If we will have another game I think I would go for an adaptation of Crossfire or even if we want a easy and fast skirmish an adaptation of infinity. But I am not considering palying it, although I must admit your Elheim figures and revel vehicle has touch some sort of inner trigger in my heart, and now I am looking my old 1/72 pictures and viet nam games .... and ....  :o soo good or so baadd now modern warfare is in my head again  8)

Unfortunately there is no pictures of Soviet - Georgia conflict games.
