Ummm. I have a question. It may be heresy and for that I accept the punishment of the Dark Lord.

I also have a massive and very positive, very firm, very proud reaction to the new Napoleonic British.

But.

I may have noted in the past my absolute rejection of firing and kneeling figures pre 1900.

Could I, by judicious use of the Dremel convert light infantry into ersatz Rifles by the simple expedient of lopping off some extraneous musket barrel?

Isn't everything ?  X_X

But going back to Nobby's original point.... (You can teach me something here.)

Have I got the completely false impression that when 'muskets' were used.....
The men were arranged in two ranks, ready to fire.
Front rank were kneeling, and fired first....and while they were reloading, the rear rank fired ?

Then basically, the rear rank reloaded, while it became the front rank's 'turn' to shoot again. (presuming they were quick enough.)
Repeat from start.

Is this complete nonsense ?

Cheers - Phil

Pretty much. The battalion was divided into firing units (platoons) which fired in a pattern.

I just don't like firing poses pre-1900. I want Riflemen in an advancing pose rather than just firing.

With 2 ranks you didnt have the front rank kneel, rather the second rank was offset to one side. In the nap and Rev wars only the Brits could use platoon fire effectively throughout. The French Revolutionary lot certainly weren't trained to do it.

I like 'advancing' (if weapon is raised high enough), or 'at the ready' for units for preference. Re numerous orders for old Peninsula campaign single pose figs courteously provided!   8)
In a firing line pack, many figs would be redundant unless for skirmishers....or used with kneelers to make squared units, (if I EVER got round to painting them!).
(My hangover from the old style 25mm figs from my youth!   =)  ).

Awaiting some of the new figs to try out before 'reassigning' my hordes of unpainted OG march attack brits!   :-\

Got 2 packs of the flankers!   :o  :D
The 'at the present' Very Nice! Will go 10 to a 3cm base without probs. Be warned   :d   ,will be ordering LOTS of single pose soon...have just ordered Command and some kneelers to use up the flank firers as skirmishers!   :)   Thank you for your efforts, worth the wait!    :)

Ps: Pretty please, can we have Command in Bicorns and stovepipes for my leaderless Peninsula's?   :'(

Any updates on the artillery and the rest of the range (including army packs)?
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Just waiting on the low-temp mould back for the new artillery carriage and then we're good to go really.  The personalities have been moulded (along with their French counterparts) so they're ready to be released, and I just need to cast off a few wheels from a master mould to go with the rockets.

If the mould arrives in the next fortnight then they'll be released before the end of the month.  The army pack will be available at the same time.
