Hi all,

Any views on whether any or all of the lovely resin Feudal Japanese buildings would be suitable for Korea and Manchuria circa 1904?

There are a dearth of Chinese buildings in 10 mm and wondered about using some of these on the very dodgy assumption that they might represent a general style found in
those areas.

All views and opinions welcome!

It might work, certainly for villages the thatch buildings could fit in reasonably well. At that time there would have probably have been a mix of eastern and western style buildings, particularly in the larger settlements, so you could also use WW2 Eastern Front.

Here's some pictures from around that time I found. You can see the mix of buildings.

This one is modern, but is a representation of a traditional village:

I use 6mm buildings for the RJW.

Irregular Miniatures Chinese Town is quite useful

On Facebook Mura Miniatures do or did some very nice Japanese buildings

For Port Arthur & Dalian some of the Crimean buildings from Timecast

This is really helpful! Appreciate your taking the time to put this together. Really nice mix of images. I do have some suitable Eastern Front items from Pendraken and Timecast and the idea of mixing Russian and local styles certainly sounds about right.

I will now get some Pendraken Japanese Feudal items.

Hi Shedman! Many thanks for these suggestions. I actually have some of those Timecast models so can use them.

Really enjoyed your own coverage of the RJW. In fact your troop suggestions from the Pendraken range and those Hobby Japan guns got me started. Indeed I ended up getting the new RJW commissioned......I am in the process of basing a load of them right now.

I might look at some of the 6mm stuff you mention, particularly if I want to portray a town

Have you had a look at the new RJW range?  Being biased, I would recommend very much!

It's a great range. If it had been available 15 years go I would have bought it.

Thanks Shedman!

Hope to add some further odds and ends that might yet tempt you.

The new sculpts work well with your own suggestions and I am happy to mix them.

Your kind comments are much appreciated.
