I've just come across this truly incredible collection of 15mm armies:
https://www.youtube.com/@thekrausecollection15mmmin53/videos

The room used to host this collection is a sight in itself.

Although it hasn't led to a switch to 15mm, a look at just one of these armies (SYW Reichsarmee) has really inspired some 10mm SYW planning.   I already have a few SYW Battalions, but some new additions might just be on the horizon !

I've only got a tenth of that and they're in smaller scales

His gaming space is bigger than some houses :o

Thanks for sharing Glorfindel, I'll keep that in reserve in case my wife ever finds out how many figures I have ;)

200,000 figures, and looks like Mr Krause has painted them mostly himself to a very good standard.....impressive

He must have deep pockets and lots of spare time.

For most of us it's a case of just because you theoretically could doesn't mean you should....200,000 isn't a target figure...

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Come on LH, really?  :-X

All I was trying to say was for 99.9% of gamers such a high number of figures is obviously impractical in both financial and practical terms.

I have no idea how much that collection would be worth apart from it would be more than I would earn in a lifetime. Where is one supposed to store it and how often would in reality, one play any one of the many periods?

I agree that 200,000 is not a target ..... I mean, where's your ambition? That number has clearly been achieved. Onwards and upwards! :D

I think you will find LH's comment is humourous, you tend to get a lot of it around here! :)

I recall a frequent poster on another forum.
He occasionally posted pictures of his collection.

The picture of his 250 Deuce and a half (6x6) trucks convinced me there are no winners in the numbers game.

Leon would probably disagree, but I'd advocate 100 satisfied customers over a couple of obsessives.
(Of course, you can have both).

Anyway 2000BC to 2000AD .   Still scope to expand there.

Just worked it out. At current rate I should be on 200,000 figures by June ... 2098.

Life goals right there. Meanwhile, my wife is planning how to turn the "hobby(/storage) room" into a proper bedroom...  :'(
