Hi there
I am of to the Derby wargames show now who else from the forum is attending?
Andy
Birthday weekend so, no! :'(
I'll be there pushing little tanks around.
I'll be there to collect an order.
'World' Wargames?
Isn't that a bit like the US baseball 'World' Series?
:D
Not very British eh?
Should be called 'Parochial Mucking About in Sheds'.
Hehe...
There have been teams from as far away as South Africa competing so somewhat more international than the said rounders tournament. I hope the conference centre is a bit bigger than a shed. It wouldn't really be a conference centre if it isn't.
I dunno...i've seen some pretty impressive sheds.
And as South Africa is part of the British Empire i'd hardly call that 'international'. ;D
In the past Leicester would put up 3 teams for the Worlds at Derby.
I've played Italian, Irish and French opponents who all who came over for the competition.
I was rather miffed at the French chap, he beat my Christian Nubians with a Hundred Years War Enlish army. What a cheek!! :D
This was in the days when DBM were the main competition rules. Love em or hate em it enabled the worlds to be international. I don't think the Worlds has the same impact these days because there are a number of rule sets in main line use.
Cheers, Rob :)
Hi
I have got an order to pick up, but you can bet your life I come away with more than and I ordered :)

I haven't seen them since it was at the Assembly Rooms. Maybe they lost their SAA sponsorship. Was the restaurant called "Amigo's"? If so I went there once and it was very good. I tried to book a table for a group of us one year and found it was fully-booked despite me ringing over a week before.
Mmm...Mexican food (and TexMex) is lovely. :D
All being well I shall be there on the Sunday, monies to be spent hopefully (cars and birthdays clear!) and I have a feeling it will be on Pendraken figgies..... definitely some SYW and liking the new ACW very much.
And then well we shall have to see :D
:-bd
Hi
I`ll be there along with a couple of lads from the club and as usual pendraken will be taking a few quid from me.
Jim
Right then, that was a long shift, finally got everything finished and the van packed! Time to go get some sleep before Dave comes to pick me up...
(:|
Have fun! :D
I've had a really nice day to-day. :)
Took my boys to the Worlds.
I picked up 70+ Austrian Chevauleger and a barn from Pendragon
A fantastic 10mm farm from Field-Works and some walls
"Frederick the Great" by David Fraser for £15.00
"Zitadelle" by Mark Healy for £13.00
Some Austrian infantry and French skirmishers from Old Glory (I know :-[) to mix in with the the Pendragon.
Seemed to bump into someone I hadn't seen in years every 5 minutes and seemed to spend most of the day nattering.
Then home in time for the Grande Final, which was probably closest and most nail biting ever.
Ahh!!! :)
Good to see you there, we really enjoyed our weekend as well, I should be uploading all the pics later on tonight hopefully.

Hi everyone
it was my first time at Derby and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be going next year all being well.
I picked up my world War two German order, and see Dave and Leon.
