Title: 1859 French Imperial Guard Voltigeur - a second request
Post by: Shedman on 16 June 2012, 09:51:29 PM
I know this sounds like a weird request. I have the French army at Magenta (700+ figures) painted and waiting to go into action with the exception of 12 battalions of Imperial Guard Voltigeurs

Therefore I would like to put in a request for 1859 French Imperial Guard Voltigeurs in Shako please.

This pack would be based on the 1859 Imperial Guard Grenadier pack, which includes command, with the bearskin being replaced by the shako. See below for an image - the uniforms were identical except for the headgear

I am more than happy to fund the costs of sculpting and mold-making for this request.

I am aware that you have already produced a 1859 French Imperial Guard Voltigeur (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/FIW2-p5962/) via the request system as I was one of those who requested it. With hindsight I should have been more specific about what I wanted.

I have 120 of these figures but try as I might I can't bring myself to paint them because, in my opinion, they are nowhere near as good as the Line Infantry, the Chasseurs, the Grenadiers or any of the other figures in the French 1859/1870 range. Also I can't find any suitable figures to use as Officers or Flag bearers and that includes the officers from your original FPW range.

I suspect the answer to this may well be that I should have got it right the first time but I've got to ask.

Thanks

Alan

Have a word with Techno (Phil). He's offered to do one-off sculpts.

I'd second that request. I'd also willingly pay for guards horse artillery limber seated riders.

I'll second Lemmey's offer to fund French Imperial Guard 1870 limber outriders and sitters. I'd also do the same for 1860 Austrian artillery outriders!

Right, if we are serious about this, Techno will do it.
We just need to find:
a) a good bank of images for Techno to work on.
b) which figures to convert from (e.g. the present French artillery outriders/limber riders, with a head swap with Chasseurs a Chevel and piping/brading work), or whether we want the more expensive option of 'new' figures.
