Title: West German M113?
Post by: Mako on 13 January 2024, 11:46:43 PM
Any chance for a West German M113 variant, with smoke dischargers on the glacis?

The large number of FV432 variants being offered gives me hope.

Alternatively, how about smoke discharger strips, so we can customize the American ones?

My Bundeswehr troops need a proper ride, and some smoke throwers for additional protection.

The M113 poses a curious question... Our model is an older sculpt and should probably be a touch bigger.  Our 3D vehicle designer has got 113s in his portfolio already so it would be an easy one to get hold of, along with a lot of the variants.  But we've been selling them for so many years that a lot of folks might be annoyed if we upgrade the model.

I bought a Pendraken M113. Decided I would like different variants and options, so then bought samples from elsewhere (though in 12mm - Minifigs). As it happens, I was buying for a fictitious army, so I just went with Pendraken FV432 models in the end - but, I'd have bought Pendraken M113 models (in various configurations and styles) if they'd have been available.

[Plus, M60 tanks with ERA (see Gulf War US. Marine Corps) and M88 Recovery Vehicle models.]

Why not look to 3D printing. I know there is a German varient in 15mm, got 4 for my Danish army.

Just speaking for myself; I prefer metal stuff. I have got some 3D printed items - more so than hard plastic bits - but, I try to buy metal where I can.

I prefer metal stuff as well.

I understand the concern over new sculpts, since I just bought a number of M113s recently too, but the Bundeswehr model shouldn't interfere with those, since they'll be used in separate units.

If no new M113 sculpt, any chance of smoke discharger strips for them, and MG3 machine guns too, while we're at it?

I could also use some smoke discharger strips for your M48 tanks too, in order to produce a M48A2C tank variant as well.
