Title: Hi from SW London
Post by: Rusty72 on 29 May 2014, 03:29:22 PM
Hi to all, been lurking on this forum fore a while, decided to move up in scale from 6mm and down from 28mm to 10mm. I am a period butterfly and not sure what to dive into first. :-[

Hi Rusty, whereabouts in SW London are you? There are a few 10mm players in the Kingston/Hampton Court area. Our club meets on a Sunday afternoon if you fancy popping along for a game

Welcome to the forum, Rusty. The great thing about 10 mms is that they're a cheap way of exploring various periods. If you're undecided I'd go for the newer ranges - LOA, Napoleonics, ACW, Mongols etc. Some of the new sculpts are works of art.

Hi Chaps,
many thanks for the welcome!

Hi Sandinista, I am based in Southfields near Wimbledon so close down the a3. Be interested in popping down.

Fierce Kitty, I have read many of your posts regarding Atecs, which I believe is all of your posts :D, Yes I would be interested in jumping in with Aztecs.

One day Ian and FK will meet.
Then we will find out what happens when irresistible force meets immovable object! ;)

If I was to start 10mm from scratch again I would go with a samurai army, really colourful, cool little banners and you can have some fun little skirmishes with them!

Ignoring that rather silly last post, I have to point out that only women find me irresistible.

Meanwhile, this Rusty seems a sensible chap that it's good to have with us.

Ianrs54,

I'll hold your coat while you sort out FK ... and nick any tanks you've left in the pocket.

This wouldn't have anything to do with his espousal of the Aztec cause, would it? I thought you'd decided they weren't worth doing?

Hi Seano, I know the feeling already! My mind is hurting just thinking where to start. LOA looks interesting as I know very little of this period, or samurai, but always worried about painting those......now if there was only Incas ;D

Obelisk Miniatures make a range of good 10mm Incas.

LoA figures are beautiful sculpts, I am putting together some forces for this period. The new Cuirassiers look great just waiting for them to go into production

Unfortunately the website shows all ranges as unavailable  :(, and Black Cat Bases which is meant to be producing them on licence doesn't show any available either.

Maybe Pendraken can swoop in with an empire building bid  :D

Cheers

Link for Caribs & Incas, listed as available June - so hopefully available soon. No sign of the conquistadors (who make good WM Imperials) so far though.

Talking of ranges gone awol - anyone know of a source for Studio Bergstrom spaceships? The site seems to have vanished.

Cheers ML.

If he's just suffering a server glitch he may be well aware!

So many small wargames companies seem to vanish without trace or warning and I was afraid they'd gone the same way.

He's aware now, but computer bod isn't. He's a great guy.  If your on Facebook look up Andrew Bergstrom and he'll sort you out.
