Well I have eventually managed to get some stuff painted and based. I am rather chuffed with them to be honest  :-[ :-[ :-[
I started with some of the British forces some infantry, the cavalry, guns and a couple of pack camel bases. all were painted on the bases over a black undercoat. After buying my optivisor I took some advice on here and bought a £1 pair of 2.5 magnification reading glasses.
so far I have:

The Durhams
Royal marines
Berkshires
Royal artillery
Hussars
Mounted infantry

I have got the infantry as 4 bases to the battalion each base as 2 companies (if that makes sense)
I have since ordered some some Egyptians and some zouaves as Bashi Bazouki to give a mixed batch of troops.

If my internet alows I will actually upload some photos  >:( >:( >:(

Very impressive  :-bd

I really like the variations between the infantry units, different enough to tell apart but obviously on the same side

Also like the Huzzar! pose for the Hussars compared to the more restrained pose for the mounted infantry

You should be really chuffed  :)

Excellent start, Maeno. I'm a fan of the camels too.

When you say you bought reading glasses after buying an Optivisor, does that mean you use the two together? I must admit I've never been able to get that to work. @-) @-) @-)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

I find that works better than using a stronger lens in the visor but then I need specs to see detail on anything within about ten feet anyway.
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

Thanks for your kind comments chaps  :-[

I use the reading glasses instead of the optivisor, however I can click 2 sets of lenses in that :)
I find the glasses means I can look over them to watch my DVD and down under them to find the paint and it doesnt terrify the kids when they run in and see Daddy with massive eyes  @-)

Do people paint the patches on their Mhadists? or leave them white..... just being nosey. I am at that point in deciding. they look good with the coloured squares, but is it worth the effort is what I am considering :-\

Definitely. And it's not too much trouble. I even did them on a 6mm Madhist army once.
