Assembled my Dwarf force for the school wargames club last night, and I noticed the vast majority of the sword wealding chaps are left handers! :D
Is this a racial trait?
Just saying...

Dwarves, being shorter than average, have a disadvantage in combat due to their shorter reach.

Left-handers, being relatively rare, have a slight advantage in combat, as those of you who are (or like me, were) into fencing will know.

In order to overcome their inherent disadvantage the dwarves have developed a combat style to balance it out.  ;)

I'd have a very small wager that the sculptor that made them was left handed....Or maybe he was trying to give some variation ?
Being right handed myself, I tend to make almost every one of my wee chaps right handed.....Can't explain exactly why, but on the few occasions I get to make a left handed figure I always think it  'looks wrong'.
Probably just me ! ;)

Yeah like biting yer kneecaps and interfering with things below your shield rim
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

On a slightly serious note

Is that the same if you sculpt someone with a 2 hand axe or spear?

I'd say it was a major advantage. I hated fighting a southpaw, and I am one. That may be the reason why I can't weald a sword. Of course, I'm too tall to be a dwarf.

Yes Steve.
It's virtually second nature for me to make them right handed.
Probably because I'm a lazy oik......and I'd have to use more grey matter (at least, what's left of it !) if I made a left handed figure.
It just feels 'natural' for yours truly to make them this way.
Only 'leftie' I've made recently was for the Warofkings game....Because the concept art showed a particular figure that way.
Strange, but true.

Nah, they're actually right handed and the beer mug is held in that hand as it's much more important than a sword!

Captain Carrot is a dwarf and he's well over six feet tall. (It's not who you are, it's who you think you are.)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.
