I am looking for a good book oin Ancient/Mediaval Indian Armies, Ideally with some good illustrations to assist in painting.

Any recommendations?

I think Osprey had a good book for it

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I thought that, but I cant find it and comments on the osprey forum are asking them to publish one.  - Perhaps its just my age?

There might be something in the Resources section: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/board,68.0.html  I've had a quick flick through, and there's some threads for later Indian info, but there might be some earlier stuff hiding in there?

The only Osprey I'm aware of that covers the Ancient Indians is the War Elephants one (Vanguard 150) and obviously that only covers the elephants..

Can't think of anything else still in print that covers them in any detail.

Lots of pics of painted armies on-line for inspiration though.

There was a good Osprey on Akbar's army; perhaps there's been a little misremembering?
