Why are Welsh spears always shown with only one shoe?  :-\

One foot bare for better grip in muddy terrain is what I have read.
Water is indeed the essential ingredient of life, because without water you can't make coffee!

Possibly ...

They didn't have time to steal the other one.
They've only got one sock.
Welsh cobblers have not managed the intricacies of the left foot.
A spear only needs one shoe - it's a pole.
They threw one at a comrade as a protest about Welsh foreign wars.
Verrucas.
They only need to count up to 15.
They keep the other one for best.
Welsh marching goes "shoe ... foot ... shoe ... foot"
They've only learned to tie up the right lace.
Some Welsh words can only be pronounced by placing a bare foot in mud.
A comrade only threw one at them whilst protesting about Welsh foreign wars.

or more probably ...

They have to protect the foot they use to score conversions against England.

Apparently the illustrations in 'Liber A' (drawn by an Englishman) are the only ones that show Welsh with one shoe. Illustrations in Welsh manuscripts are rare.
It is the Landsknechts that are well known for wearing one shoe in battle for better grip on slippery ground.

If they have only one shoe then when confronted by slippery ground, don't they just go into a spin?
