Having an Armour Leader will help - I can't remember if that's in the rules (...)

that's on page 50 "where three or more vehicles of the same type ..."
For our special scenario, we had one.

(...) I do think that the number of command dice cause a natural limit to the amount of stuff that can be command(...)

Yes, I agree with you. but that also keep us from playing huge monsters games.
My main "trouble" was deploying the vehicles, as they came one after one. It slowed the beginning of our game. ( May be allow entering one with a "2" ?  :-\  )

remember you can add 1s & 2s together to make 3s & 4s 9although that does reduce the number of orders in a turn...). For bigger games I'd split it into multiple commands - say, 2 Platoons with their support units - and roll dice for each separately, but allowing Senior Leaders to command any leaderless or support units (ordering units under another Senior Leader, or his Juniors, would be breaking the Chain of Command...)

I had a new game with a new player. I think he liked Chain of Command ( and he won !  :-[ )
;)

A simple patrol, a good game :

you're very nice, thank you.
While reading again, I found I forgot to explain - and to use - the covering fire rules !   X_X
