Metal discoloration question

I have a pile of unpainted lead, I have noticed today that a lot of the figures and vehicles are going a yellow/brown colour ?, it's not just the Pendaraken stuff I have but other makes as well,  they are in the plastic re-sealable bags and was wondering if its the bags that are causing the discoloration and does this affect the metal itself

any help appreciated

It shouldn't affect the metal as far as I know, at least not on our stuff.  The other companies may use different grades of metal though? 

We do get the odd pack which comes out of the mould a different colour, which is due to the different rubbers we use.  We had a batch a few years ago which made the figures quite yellow when they came out.  None of it should affect the quality of the castings.

It's possible that one of the metals in the 'mix' has oxidized very slightly Smokie......Shouldn't affect the model once there's an undercoat on though.
I've seen a very fine dusting of an oxide on very old models that had been kept outside in a rather damp shed..(" Lead Rot")..But even that cleaned off perfectly well.

Yep to my foreposters.

Have not had the issue with Pendraken stuff. Sniff at the model. If it smells "rotten" or damp then it is beginning to oxidize or even showing signs of lead rot.

Clean it off, bath it in Isopropanol and prime. Generally metal models should not be stored in damp locations but speedily "used" to avoid any potential issue.

One "bad model" is enough to spread the desease so to speak. This is why I separate my metal with small plastic bags. And generally paint as fast as possible. Still my mountain of Lead consists of Pendraken, Oddzial Osmy and one 54mm Reaper Finari model and neither manufacturer has ever given me any grieve.

I think the only "grieve" I ever had with Pendraken was the misconception of the old SF2 pack containing a fixed allocation of poses. Alas, one PM later I now know I simply ask Leon for a certain makeup of my pack and if possible it will be accommodated. And I am pretty certain this will be my only issue with Leon for a few more years.

Well turmeric will make em bright orange. Have see figures home cast in type metal jet black before painting.
