SDKFZ 251... photo request

Hey dear gents of the forum!

I'm looking at getting some halftracks for the normandy germans, and was wondering if you dear lot have any pictures of the following items?

GR29 sdkfz 251/1 ausf c
GR29a sdkfz 251/1 ausf c camouflaged
GR47 sdkfz 251/7 engineer halftrack
GR49 Sdkfz 251/1 Ausf D
gr89 Sdkfz 250 neu
GR82 Sdkfz 250 (1)

The last 2 are recce versions normally yes?


Oh and if anyone has some pictures of the german combat engineers, i would like those to!

If anyone has suggestions about wich ones to use for late western front, please do tell!

If I have attached photos correctly, below are GR89 Sdkfz 250 neu and GR49 Sdkfz 251/1 Ausf D
If this works, I've also got a picture of the GR47 engineer 251/7 which is Ausf C.
For late western front I used the above models. For the 251/7 I couldn't find an ausf D so I used the ausf C. If you really want an ausf D you could buy GR49 and GR47 and make one up.

OK, that worked. So here is the 251/7
The GR29 model will be similar without the ramps.

The 250s could either be recce, or platoon leader vehicles.

There was a model (250/9) with an small turret with a 20mm cannon. Which is nice for a late war recce model

With the angled sides I assume it is a 250C base model.

In Normandy the 251 was almost exclusively the Ausf D. According to all the info I have the 250 was only used in the Recce Bttlns (in Normandy) and there were a lot of the Alt still in use. Platoon command vehicles should have been the 251/17 (20mm Flak) but they were not available so the 251/10 (37mm Pak) soldiered on instead (I've even seen a 251 with 28mm Panzerbusche in one Waffen SS unit during the retreat from Normandy)

This is the 251 aus C. The D has the sloping rear panel to make it easier to build.

@NTM : I am going to use the same models for late eastern front , to battle the russians, so would ausf.D be appropriate there too? I have loads of books on the subject but can't find much about halftracks.

The tank encyclopedia doesn't state those kind of vehicles. I also have the combined works of 'SIGNAAL' but that's propaganda so not entirely thrustworthy

EF is not my area of interest and I don't have the exact production dates or figures but the Ausf D entered service in 1943 so you're safe with that post Kursk IMHO.

According to the stuff I have here production of the Ausf C probably started in January 1941 and ended in August 1943. The Ausf D was produced from July 1943 to the war's end.

Apparently the Germans didn't record the different models produced just tallied the numbers of all types built each month.

There would no doubt be a slight delay between production and introduction in the field.

I assume the model C's would continue in service until they broke down, blew up or were abandoned/ captured.

For Eastern Front the model C / Alt version would be it until just after Kursk with the D / Neu version gradually replacing the earlier versions thereafter.

That's my take anyway, for whatever it's worth!

I'll go with those, makes it easier on my memory  if they are all the same 

And my gaming buddys are not that hard on using different models/ versions for different periods

If you are doing mid-war then a mix of Cs and Ds is fine. The Germans never retired anything, it was kept in use until in broke down or was destroyed by the enemy.

And once they are on the table no-one is going to notice the slope of the armoured sides!

I would draw the line at Ds in panzer grey though
