Hurry up with the RND. WW1 is looming and this Royal Marine wants his Division formed and ready for Antwerp Aug 2014.

I was in a presentation this week by a member of the Western Front Association. It was about the Royal Naval Division of WW1, specifically the combat in Belgium 1914. Fascinating, and he was in his 1916 Western Front Petty Officer battle dress. We will be doing a story on this via the RNAS Culdrose page of www.royalnavy.mod.uk some time soon ....

Those sailors and Royal Marines look very nice, any timescale?

Hopefully before the end of the year, but Dave's sorting those out and I'd need to check with him to confirm.

Will there be any Royal Marine Light Infantry to support the naval Division at Antwerp?  They really need to be there  :)

You can use the RN figures for the RMLI in this scale. They wore very similar rig but with a Globe and Laurel cap badge on the sailors cap. The RN had "HMS" on their cap tallies. If you were going larger scales then the RN sailors would be less well equipped with webbing etc, they were hastily formed for the 1914 period whilst the RMLI were a professional organisation. Later years, 1915, onwards the steel helmet replaced the cap and better webbing came in so they looked more like the Army. Gallipoli saw a bit of both in terms of uniforms, so the sailors caps can still be used.
