Hi all,

It's been a while since my last update in this series so I've put together a little guide (part 1) to go with the zulu ones.
As before it's not exhaustive and so I'll update again when I've put together some more units.

I hope you find it useful, feel free to share if you know anyone with need of it.

Cheers

Very good sir!

Although on campaign the helmets were never white (deliberately stained brown with tea and dirt), and the redcoats quicklt became 'brown' coats!!  Hehe.

Didn't stop me painting mine as fresh from the parade ground though.   ;D

Aye Luddite, 'tis true about the helmets, mimosa bark boiled down though if I remember correctly more oft than tea.
I'm guilty of mixing both stained and white in my units but that's me not knowing which I prefer. :-\

Ian, the 3rd bttn 60th definitely wore green in theatre (a little darker than I've illustrated too), perhaps the other bttns switched? or wore red on home service?

Funnily enough, the period between Isandlwana and the second invasion saw a great many of the centre column without proper uniform, some even going as far as cutting arm and head holes in mealie sacks and wearing them in place of looted/lost kit, it got that bad.
Even helmets became hard to replace, many of the rank and file took to glengarry's or wide-awake hats before supplies arrived with the re-inforcements.
