QuoteIts because Microsoft no longer does a thorough check that the programs work. It does some basic checks then releases it. It then waits for the bugs to reveal themselves and issues upgrades. far cheaper for them, infuriating for us.

We never used to have so many upgrades on programs.

WARNING: Old computer industry veteran vents.

"No Longer" is doing a lot of heavy lifting above.
Micro$oft were notorious for chucking it out and letting the mugs early adopters do the troubleshooting.

More upgrades is mainly because there are a lot more hackers out there now.
And PC manufacturers decided it was better to provide some organic virus protection.
After standing back for decades and expected punters to install Kaspersky - (which might just eat your system from the inside).

"Up" - grades.
Ever requires twice the computer power to simply function.
It's always been thus.
We are expected to accept this as a norm.

My policy used to be - Do not install any Microsoft product until it has formally released (not beta version) for at least 18 months. I now try to leave it as long as possible

Well, as I don't have an option, I will find out Wednesday what it is like (Pub Quiz on pick up day, so assuming no use on Tuesday)

However it is now 3 years old, so am hoping nothing major.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Got a free bottle of wine for the table, and Head of Function didn't come, but did give me the money for the first round!

The annual Christmas plague has hit our house, so we've spent most of the last 4 days in bed / asleep on the sofa.  The kids seem to have avoided it as usual...
