Trees - a query

Does any company make serviceable trees in plastic? I've never cared for the type covered in flock or raffia, and metal scenery never holds paint properly. Plastic palm trees are one of the joys of my present infidelity with Africa, but some day pike and shot and I are going to get back together.

Just been browsing those; it's what prompted my query. Those just don't look like trees.

I've not seen any, but if anyone does find some, then Minibits would be interested...!  :D

Hi FK

Have you thought about looking at plastic aquarium plants?

Saw some when I was looking for resin aquarium buildings:-

Some are pretty naff but others could be useful.

Palms are easy; the local supermarket does a fair set with a kiddies' pack of dinosaurs. Even after giving the animals away, the trees are dirt cheap. But then palms lend themselves to simple castings better than pines or oaks.

Timecast plastic palms I based up a while back, quick highlight of dust over them for contrast.

I've got all the palms I can clap with, at a fraction of Timecast's prices (don't get me wrong - I love their buildings). GOM, that first aquarium tree looks like a triffid's scarier big brother. Have you counted your neon tetras lately?
Hmmm...Day of the Triffids has distinct gaming potential; could probably use some of the VBCW stuff (it must be good for something, surely?)

The stranger aquarium plastic plants and accessories are great for alien triffid/man eaters, I have been working on a load for a new scenery set.
I find them great for the weirder types of terrain (I love those ones in the posts though, I haven't seen those kinds before, so shall have to get some!)
This is made from one of those Anenome ones

I also have loads of the poundshop plastic palms, pretty good for jungle tables, not too good for more traditional gaming...but do agree there need to be some more choices for trees. I made tons last year out of allsorts, but through bad storage and gaming they seem to be a tad worse for wear!

Cheap plastic tree armatures are available in bags of 114. You could add plastic aquarium plant 'foliage' to these for the all-plastic 10mm tree solution.

I added clump foliage myself. Just up on my Blog:

If anyone's still on this train, these people make pretty good plastics, though they're too pricey for more than a few clumps on bases; which is enough for me anyway, since I like to be able to move figures around on the table, not set up museum-standard displays of dense forest.

Tried putting 'N gauge' into Ebay?
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
