Well my parcel is expected on monday at y mom's house. I told my wife i had to go right after work to pick it up. She said: "can't you pick it up in the evening when the little one is in bed"

I gave her the "it's shiny and i need it NAO" look  ;D ;D ;D

On those rare occasions where my hobby becomes known to 'normal' people (co-workers, etc.), i justify it by saying 'i play with toy soldiers; i'm nurturing my inner child'.

Well, i always say the same. I asl the person in question the following.

You have a kid? Does he play computer games? Does he play strategy games?

If they say yes, just tell them his son or daugther is the same but too lazy too make his own units  :D :D :D

No seriously, i have never had "the look" when others found out about my hobby. Only SWMBO ever complains.

That's what I say : "I play strategic games"
It sounds more "impressive". In France, people (who doesn't play) often make confusion about games and (kid) toys. ( I know, here we play games with toys ! ;) )
Nowadays, they use "RPG games" for everything ( MMORPG, boardgames or even wargames)
I just agree with them, and show them my Historical books or the reenactor association to wich I belong.  :P

Ronan, where are you in France ? Which period do you re-enact ?

I live near Nantes.
In fact, I can't go no more to re-enactments, I was injured  and my shoulders will hurt me now. I used to belong to Nazapad, we were WW2 russians
I'm on the left here : ( Yes my friend on the right is Spanish 1936 )

From our old web site : http://nazapad.selfip.net/thumbnails.php?album=1

and I'm proud here   ;)  : (but not really WW2 !)

My friends moved to this associations :
WW2 : http://nazapad.xooit.fr/index.php
and ACW : http://ccffcw.xooit.fr/index.php

One of my daughter is doing "artistic fencing", XVII° to XVIII° century.

or here on the left video ( it was several years ago.. where are those new pics ?...   :-[  )
