Has anyone else here noticed that this forum has become increasingly slow in the past couple of days (or weeks)?
With very high speed internet connection in Colorado USA, it can take minutes to load the homepage! :o

Please help, cause it's really getting on my nerves. (It took like 8 minutes to make and upload this post)

Thanks for the message Peter, it's working fine for me here on the work machine.  Is anyone else having any problems?

Lightning fast for me - and I'm in the sticks when you're talking broadband speeds really...

I reckon Colorado might have a problem with its high speed Peter... :(

Maenoferren

living in the back of beyond here (there are times when dial up is faster) forum working fine for me.
Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

No problems for me on my less than fast connection at home.

Did have a bit of a 'slowdown' a couple of days ago for a short while.
But I think that was because Norton was doing one of its impromptu scans at the time.
Apart from that it's been absolutely fine.
I'm sort of in the sticks here too....Though only about a mile from the local telephone exchange...Usually get around 8Mb.

Suffolk's Fine and we have the slowest broadband speed in the country due to it being powered by horse drawn bray as Tolly Cobbold do their brewery deliveries.... :o

I also own the worlds oldest PC which runs off steam from the communal bath in the outdoor bathroom ;D ;D ;D
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Ah, Tolly Cobbold brings back memories of the 1st edition D&D played at school with one of my friends having a character called Tolly Kobold :).

Hi Peter,

Please can you try the following for me?

In Windows, select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

Enter the word tracert, followed by a space, then pendrakenforum.co.uk (as below) and hit enter.

If you could take a screenshot of your results and email it to admin@pendrakenforum.co.uk, it'd help me greatly with trying to diagnose your problem.  :)

Just to confirm - the forum appears to be running fine (tested from several worldwide proxies). I suspect you may be experiencing an issue with one of your tubes between your PC and our webserver.

Thanks,
Matt

Yes it most certainly is.  :)

The internet is a network of networks. To access another computer (read: website) you need a physical "link" (be that via; cable, microwave, satellite) between the source and destination. Sometimes, the connections between networks can become congested and cause traffic to slow down.  Anyway, cutting to the chase, I tend to use the analogy of tubes to explain the physical nature of the internet in a non technical way. It's strange but a lot of people think the internet is this magical construct but it really isn't. It's man made and physically exists.   If anyone wants to read more, check out http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tubes-Behind-Scenes-at-Internet/dp/0670918989/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1348826242&sr=1-1 (it's about a non-technical journey to discover the true nature of the internet).
