Hi,

Any give me a clue here please..........what colour should a WW2 British despatch riders leathers and "flying" helmet be?

A friend at work bought a despatch riders coat a few years ago and it was not leather, but a heavy duty material that was an off beige colour from memory.

Hertsblue

Despatch riders normally wore a round, "pudding-basin" helmet similar to that of the airborne troops. Colour was the same as for infantry.

My brother bought one of those donkeys' years ago during his biking days, it was so thick and stiff it could stand up on its own.  A real nostalgia trip for my old man as he served this function during WWII.
