Well that was one of the best two weeks of TV I've ever seen, I only wish I could have watched more of it.  The whole Games have been a thorough triumph, and everyone involved should feel quite rightly chuffed that they contributed to it, especially the 75,000 volunteers who've received rave reviews from everyone I've seen interviewed.  The athletes all performed to such a high level, and it was great to see so many medals heading our way.

The closing ceremony tonight was just as good as the opening one I thought, a nice mix of music and arty-stuff, although I could have done without the Spice Girls or One Direction...  :-\  And I must admit to getting a bit emotional when 80,000 people responded to Freddie like that.   :-bd

All in all, I currently feel immensely proud to be British!

I think what made it for me was that I found myself watching sports I would never have considered watching usually - like archery, rowing, gymnastics etc. When it's the best you just have to watch.  :)

Anyone else think the glimpse of Pendleton in the bowler hat is perticualrly 'cute'?  :-\ :-[ :x

Always prefered Mel C (Sporty) (and she was the only one singing in tune last night)!

Heard on the radio this morning:

If Yorkshire was a country then it would have been placed 7th in the medal table - ranking alongside Australia and Japan.

Go Yorkshire!

So Yorkshire on its own beat some 201 countries - owzat.
That is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put - Winston Churchill

There's no sport on telly.

I've had to go back to work.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Nice to see the Spice Girls brought their own zimmer frames and also what Gandalf looks like without his beard.  :D

The Freddie Mercury video was a nice touch.

I found the whole Freddie Mercury piece really weird.  A great performer, with an astonishing voice, but a video of a guy who has been dead for over twenty years interacting with and leading 80,000 people in song.  What an idea!

Pretty sure they did that at Sheffield a few years ago now, when 'Queen' joined forces with Paul Rogers.
Wonderful version of Bo Rhap with Mercury and Rogers 'doing a duet' on the CD.

Is there anything on tele tonight, or am I back to watching DVDs again ?
Cheers - Phil.

The Spice Tarts Nik?????????

You've dropped a peg or two on the old awesome totty meter mate...  Pendleton knocks spots off all four of the has beens.

They remind me of the old KitKat advert (and no I dont mean the tired old joke about whats the difference between a spice girla dna kit kat? You only get four fingers in a .....) I mean the one that goes "Cant, sing, cant play..." You'll go a long way!"
