QuoteBut the suggestion that 18th century or other era's tactics are formulaic and repetetive really prompts the advice that you read a few more books with hard covers

Hmm...you might be trolling here...you might be aiming this at me, or my good friend SteveJ, or none of us...but I'll respond as I feel I need to.

This wasn't what was being suggested: no-one has used the words "formulaic and repetetive" [sic] but you. Steve indicated that he preferred more fluidity & made a good observation about how we necessarily approach history with our contemporary perspective. I made, I think, a considered response to that point.

As for your suggestion about reading (& therefore implicit suggestion of a lack of education etc), I simply won't allow myself or others to be patronised by those who don't know me, my level of education & knowledge, my experience or indeed anything about me; nor will I allow myself or others to be patronised & insulted by someone who can't spell "repetitive". Perhaps you should get a dictionary - I believe they make them in both soft- and hard- cover versions.

Hard back books? Do the early Ladybird editions count? 'The soldier' is a cracking read.....

Anyway, in my experience with Pendraken, good things come to those who wait. I have requested the Panzer IIIG as I game WW2 North Africa and need it for my 5th Leichte div. I know it will turn up so I aint worried. In the meantime I just carry on painting, basing and buying the other bits and pieces I need. I only wish some of the other manufacturers were half as responsive to their customer base as Pendraken are.

Keep churning them out Leon, we will keep buying them. And if we fail to do so you can rely on Nik to start a new period!

Jane Austen couldn't spell, nor yet could Shakespeare. I blush to be classed with such losers.

True enough  ;) Shameless period-floozy & painting-junkie, me  ;D

Hahaha - here you go again  :P If I really wanted a troll, I'd buy FT3  ;)

This is not strictly true though. Contemporaneous 'norms' of diction were not as fully developed in either of those periods as they are now; there was simply not such an established agreement of 'corrected' spelling. And trust me, your [& mine own] writing isn't even close to being in the same class.  :D

I hope you can take this post in the spirit in which I write it - that I've had a long day, being here is part of my unwinding - and that everything I write here - even as a rebuttal - is meant in a friendly way...life's too short to argue with anyone, let alone those that we only meet virtually. If you can't go with this, rock up & be nice here, then I'm afraid I'll just walk on & ignore you. Simples.  8)
