This past Sunday we headed down to Alumwell, near Birmingham, for the WMMS show.  Weather was good, the attendance looked good, and we got chance to speak to quite a few Forum members.  Trade-wise, opinions seemed to vary between the traders I spoke with, and we finished the day having done about the same as last year.

So, to the pics!

The WMMS show seems to pack a bit of everything in the large hall, so as well as the traders and the games, there are also re-enactors, and vehicle displays:

And the local modelling club were also on hand with some fantastic display pieces:

And just for Nik...

Next up is the epic event that is Salute!  Please make sure to get your orders in to us as soon as possible!

Some lovely looking tables, but interesting to see no WWII or AVBCW, which is rather unusual I think.

I was just about to say 'Why is it that every single ACW game has to be on picture perfect terrain?' Until I saw some of the other games on display! Astounding :o

The anime chick adds a nice touch too :-[

No forum members in the Hat?

More importantly no totty in hats :'(
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

The Roman helmet has been retired and is sitting comfortably in a chair upstairs in it's slippers...

A new hat must now be found!

Me too.  :( :o
I will stand, or I will fall. But I will not sit.

There's some lovely-looking games there - definitely a nice inclusion for my benefit (and others I'm sure!) - cutie  8)

There was a WWII game. It was over on the left hand side of the hall.

It was a 28mm game of Operation Squad using two squads a side and vehicles. I didn't see any Flames of War though...

The thing that struck me the most was the SotA game run by a Spectrum +2.

Nice photos Leon.  Do you happen to have any more info on that fabulous looking Hougoumont game, in particular what rules were being used?

Sorry - SotA =  Society of the Ancients.

I asked about the Hougoumont game. I can't remember what the rules where but I know they involved playing cards.

Hertsblue

Interesting to note that at least two games were using "fake fur" terrain. I've seen towelling used before but never anything that deep.

Question is, how do they stop people from stroking it?  :D
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

I use to use it before I found a doormat. It works really well for trampled crops, but I do get the inevitable jokes about 'Nice to see your toupee getting more use; Or how did you ever get away with sacrificing one of your daughter's teddy bears?!?'

Afraid not unfortunately, I've just checked some of the other show reports online and couldn't see any info there either.   :(
