As mentioned in the General area of the forum I'm starting out on a very new project for me,ECW with Pendraken miniatures and I will be posting up my progress on my Blog. So I thought I would put a post here so that I can update with fresh links as they appear, for those of you who are interested to view the progress from idea to battlefield. Hopefully it will also start up some friend;y and constructive conversation about the period,so people with far more knowledge of the period may share their thoughts. So here's the link to the first post 'ECW inspiration'... general musings.

Try "The Readiness of the People" by A J Hopper, and "The Civil War in Yorkshire" by David Cooke both good reads

Tis surely a wonderful period ;)

I have loads of PD ECW to work on in 2012 but will try to find the time to photograph some of my Baccus ECW regiments and put them onto my blog in the New Year along with unit names. The great thing about the ECW is that just about any combination of colours could be argued to be right given that most units got what coat colours their commander could afford.

Looking forward to seeing progress on this one :)
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I'm about to go down this route myself, though I still might opt for 6mm ( Sorry)...Bishop  Are you going for 4cm depth or 6mm depth?..Personally I am thinking of 6cm because it would make the cavalry the same depth,What are you thoughts?

I'm going with 40mm x 20mm bases as it will then fit in with various rules sets and I'm starting with a WMA variant which we are all using at our club, all ECW armies used are Pendraken so when some action is fought I will post up some picces :)

Ive also posted up the next instalment of my ECW venture (still on the buildings stage at the moment though) on the Blog:-

Looking forward to the piccies Bishop, at the moment I'm waiting for Leon to post me the start of my ECW project.

Good rules for this are Regiment of Foote by Peter Pig, I've played them and they really do give the flavour of amateur soldiers commanded by bungling incompetents. Fun!!!!!!!!

Nice looking village - what's the WMA variant you're playing? Tony Barr's Renaissance Master or another one?

fred.

The paper houses from Brummbar's site look good, I've got a few of them, and I think I should get some more printed and made up, the ones I have are rather shiny as they were printed on a colour laser, rather than an inkjet.

I could suggest as a complement the rick priestly rules "1644".  It is great book for the period and have great pics (28mm). I do not use the ruels but could be usefull if you are interested in apporach the period

We used to regularly play this as a board game that came free with a wargames magazine in the early '80's. Many happy memories of battles fought at the end of a long design project as a way of unwinding, naturally accompanied by beers :).
