Have had this set up for a week & not managed to get anywhere near it - until tonight to take some opening pics...hoping this one will get fought in the next couple of days...I also need to get a 'proper' snow board sorted for these at some point!

Ze Germans have taken up a rearguard position in the town and are tasked with denying the Russkies any advance across the river

Right - now the festivities have calmed down a bit...found time to sneak out tonight with a bottle of something nice & scrap this one out: BKC II of course, with the Russians attacking the dug-in Germans. The Soviet commanders begin the advance, sending some T34s across the bridge:

...which provokes opportunity fire from the German right flank [Stug IIIs and PzIV] - taking out the second T34 just as it reaches the end of the bridge:

The Russian right flank begins its advance:

The remainder of the Russian force are still busy with the vodka...so the Germans take the initiative - knocking out the lead T34 and the one on the crest of the bridge with some deadly-accurate gunnery, which also suppresses the last T34:

The Russians advance again - this time sending some brave sons of the motherland across a ford in the river:

- and on the right flank the Russians are inflicting some hits on the German left flank force:

The German right flank blunders - and the panzer command moves directly towards the nearest Russians:

The Russians are again making good headway on the right flank:

- although the Commander & the ATGs are still swilling the vodka & refuse to take part...

The German right flank manages to blunder again - this time drawing fire which accounts for one Stug III:

The rest of the German armour takes some long-range potshots:

The Russians finally finish off the falling-down water and begin to concentrate their efforts towards the centre:

At this point the German CO blunders - and will be at a -3 disadvantage on command rolls next turn:

More Russian progress & inflicting more pain on the Germans:

The German armour begins to move towards the Russian right, intending to create a killing ground:

...while the Russian SMG boys get busy:

The tank battle begins to heat up - with multiple firing actions at close range:

The German FAO is spotting really well at this point and directs concentrated fire onto the Russian ATGs and infantry:

Amongst the carnage of close-fighting AFVs, the tide begins to turn:

With both sides having passed their Break points this could go either way...

And final kills from the Russian T34s are enough to cause the Germans to turn tail:

It's the Eastern front for you Hans...Oh. Hang on...

Nice looking game as always Amigo 8). Reminds me that I must really try and get a solo game in before work resumes on Tuesday.

Nice looking game Nik.
Those armies look even better in combat than they did in your painting post.

Thanks chaps - it's been a while since I had a game of BKC & this one played out *really* nicely; I really didn't expect the Russians to carry the field with roughly equal forces against dug-in Germans [although the blunder which made half the German armour move into the open certainly helped!]

@ Arsenus: flowers? Nah mate - this is Scorched Earth. War is Hell.  :d ;D

Next time these get a run-out will be on my nice new snow mat - so it'll look 'properly' cold...although I might sneak in a few conifers just for you Arsenus  ;) :)
