Here i was, all set up to hate no. 11.

Dr Who-llyoaks as me and the missus were dubbing it.

Young pretty boy to appeal to the girlies...check.

Young pretty girl to draw in the girlies dads...check.

The missus wasn't even going to watch it, so we settled down with our grumpy heads on, ready to...

Oh...

Dear lord!

OK...calm down...

Now i always hated Tennant who SHOUTED ar random INTERVALS, and talked through HIS teeth in the hope that he might be actually ACTING...

Ecclestone was pretty good...on a par with Davidson...

But here...the 11th Doctor is SO good, its almost like Baker's back on screen.

And those teasers!  Khaki daleks!!!

I think a little bit of wee came out i got so excited.
A man of my venerable years really shouldn't be getting this stimulated.
I had to have a cup of milky tea just to get my blood pressure back down.

We'll have to wait and see but i have a feeling this new Dr could well be astonishingly good...i'm certainly looking forward to this series and feel like everything since the end of Baker's reign has sort of been just treading water waiting for Matt Smith to grow up...

I must admit I was very impressed too; in fact, so were all the family. What a difference having a good writer makes to an episode.

I loved the Khaki Daleks and Spitfires in space too. I think they will get an outing in FWC at some point :).

Pruneau

The missus and myself were very charmed with him too.  Deliciously unconventional.  And fishfingers with custard made me  ;D

My eldest son is a big fan of Tennant, and was saying how he didn't like the new Dr too much, but after half an hour we heard no more complaints.  I think it's looking good, and I'm happy to have the Dr back on the screen after such a long wait (wasn't the series supposed to return by christmas originally?)

Just watched it (I *love* BBC iPlayer)...was there a Doctor in it? I think I might have lost some concentration once the nice policewoman in the miniskirt arrived on the scene... ;) 8) ;D

Good stuff - looking forward to the rest of the series

Paint it Pink

Saw it with a thousand other people at the British national Easter SF convention, Odyssey 2010, which was at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow. Had a fabulous time and was totally worn out by all the fun.
Unlike some people, I feel under no obligation to pretend that only one war-gaming scale is true, and that any others 6mm/10mm/15mm/25mm are mistaken; or that I know better than people themselves what is right for them to use. The point is precisely for all war-gamers to decide for themselves.

Just watched this week's episode on iPlayer (The Beast Below) - top-notch again...

Couple of things:
1) Miss Pond is indeed great; no miniskirt this week though  :(
2) Next week is Daleks in WW2 - perfect  8)

That's fair comment - I'm waiting for the cowboy boots & miniskirt episode... :P 8)

Last Hussar

As I remarked to Lady Hussar during the opening scene of Amy's spacewalk- I hope she'd got some knickers on, given the view the Doc was getting!

Matt is more Troughton with a dash of Pertwee.

I actually liked Tennant, I know some criticised the angst, but I like the way he no longer exists in a bubble- the Time War has had a very real effect.  I never understood while he put on that stupid scottish accent when he was interviewed though. :D
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Nosher

I have to say that I thought episode one was outstanding and certainly Miss pond in a Policewomans uniform caught they eye... How Shallow am I?

Episode 2 was very poor and dont get me started on episode 3... :o

The new generation Daleks looked like an 'Italian Job New Mini Cooper-launch' - utter insanity.
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

I too thought episode 2 ok-ish, but not impressed with episode 3. Maybe it Mark Gatiss was the difference?

The Khaki Daleks were cool but did not like the hunch backed new ones. Unfortunately our son who is mad on Daleks wants to buy the new ones already!

goat major

i thought episode 3 had a few classic moments though
- Dalek offering to make a cup of tea
- Dalek carrying a box file down the corridor on its sucker
- Spitfires in space!!!

new daleks though   ??? liked the retro colour scheme but the hunchback bit was quite odd

umm...about as shallow as me nosher  ;) 8)

I've not watched this episode yet - but have just d'loaded it from iPlayer...so will do soon...

Maybe we should develop separate ratings:
- score 0-5 for plotline
- score 0-5 for ze Dr
- score 0-5 for Miss Pond (cue the compulsory "on a scale of 0-5, I'd give her one" jokes)
:P 8) :P
