Since I have finally assembled by 1:144 BKA-1125

I am looking for a worthy task for my Soviet Naval infantry.

My current thinking is to combine one of the resin gun mounts like http://www.pendraken.co.uk/PS19-p5311/  with the 6" naval gun from the Boer War gun wagon

Actually, I think that is what this gun is, from my home town: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ewan_osullivan/2391720005/

I'll put it on the Romania coast - or Odessa.  The marines that manned the batteries wore Adrian helmets so I will use French WWI gun crews to man it; a company of defenders I can form from the Spanish Civil War International Brigade figures in Adrian helmet and maybe some WWI East Africa sailors.  Should make a good "hold the line" scenario while re-enforcements rush to defend the battery.

Which is the reason for my seemingly disconnected  questions about landing craft and fortress guns.

Any thoughts on how I might improve on this scheme?

EDIT: Pics resized.

Hi Lentulus

For defenders you could look at WW1 Italians in short jacket and Adrian Helmet. Here is a pic painted by the talented CorvetteK225 (although he says these are older paint jobs, the new must look outstanding!!) :-

Also the FPW French Sailors could also be used with the pompom removed if you're not keen on the Russian naval riflemen.

Cheers

Excellent idea for the defenders, very close to the actual uniform (at 10mm)

Sorry I can't offer any info. But I'd just like to say that's a really fine diorama of the gun battery.
