It is isn't it. The 1 inch sheets go for around £8, don't why the smaller ones are so much more expensive.

I'm going to have a look in B&Q next time I'm in to see if they have any seconds / damaged ones going cheaper.

.... maybe cast smaller flat sections which can be placed side by side together to form a larger whole?

:)  <--- ever hopeful

That's definitely an option...

With walls that can be added around the edge?

...and whilst we're getting wistful, longer corridors?
(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

Yeah, something like that.  Making a large tile, say 6 inch square, would be easy enough to do, and then we could look at making some intact/crumbled walls in a variety of options.

All of the above relies on me finding some spare time to have a go though!

Not really, I was thinking far more conservatively  ;)  However, if something like that was to become available...  :D

My idea was the current floor without walls in a few sizes (from 2x2 up to HUGE) with the current walls as separate edging.

Three types of edge: open ended, inward corner on one end and outward corner on one end, say multiples of 3-squares long with a 1 square strip of floor sections for stability.

With these bits you should be able to construct irregular rooms and surround them in a wall to fit in with the available dungeon pieces, which would help lock in the wall segments.
