Hello

can anyone post samples of meele combats where multiple enemies are engaged. I don't understand the link concept of the rules:

"A combined weapon attack is created by drawing an imaginary line between each model‟s kill zone, going back and forward between friend and foe until the line cannot be continued further. This must form a single contiguous link of kill zones, and all the dice for that melee are thrown as one roll. Models who are not part of this single melee must resolve their combat(s) in separate melees"

Please post examples of how to work this out.

On the other hand... do enemies or friends block LOS when shooting?

thanks

Hi crnacko,

I`ll try and break down how melee/close combat works to make it a little easier for you.

friends   -------------------->      __________                 __________    __________                                         ____________

enemy --------------------->                       __________                      __________  __________  ___________                      ___________

If you look in the example above (each of the lines represents a base front) you will see a contiguous (figures next to one another) link which is not broken at any point along the line. The link can be traced from either friend or foe; just so long as the line exists, it forms a chain of attacks and is rolled for in one go - you just add up all the dice and throw them in one big roll.

friend ------------------>      _____(1)______                                       ____________  _____________

enemy ----------------->                                                                ____________                             _____________  _______(2)_______

In the second example (above) friendly figure (1) and enemy figure (2) are NOT part of the attack chain because they have no contiguous connection to any part of the attack.

Enemies and friends DO block LOS when shooting at a target beyond the offending figures. Of course, you can easily make up a few rules to allow a chance - counting the target as in cover perhaps, and checking to see if the wrong figure is hit?

Thanks for that clarification about melee - got the dungeon as a Christmas present and was going to ask the same question.

Reminds me a bit of Tunnels and Trolls, only not quite so many d6s!  ;)
(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

Thanks. Just ordered both the basic dungeon and the booster with additional items. Can't wait to put my hands on it!

I`m glad you said Tunnels and Trolls  ;)  four games stand out in my head from my youth... The original three book set of Dungeons and Dragons (when they used to be Tactical Studies Rules), Runequest, Traveller, and of course my favourite; the old trusty - Tunnels and Trolls  :)

For the rules to be likened to T&T makes me smile proudly... even to be classed in the same bracket  :D
