I am just planning a Carthaginian army for the Punic wars. I was wondering on skin colour for the Carthaginian citizen troops. Should they be predominantly lighter skinned similar to hebrews or darker skinned Arabs.

I thought some one did a post on this some time ago, but I can't seem to find it

The Libyphoenicians would be a mix of ethnicities, I would imagine. Levantine, Greek, native North African and possibly some Spaniards and Sicels. So a variety from tanned Hispanic to modern Berber? Perhaps the odd even darker skinned individual. If you were good in a ruckus I doubt the Carthaginians cared about your skin colour.

I believe you may be thinking of this thread Orcs, about Paul's BBDBA armies from 2020:

The Carthaginian Army paint up begins on page 16 of the thread and includes some discussion on the very subject you have raised.

Remembered it as we have recently played several games of BBDBA using Paul's various 10mm Punic War armies.

Thank you Pierre, I knew I had seen it on the forum, but could not find it.

It has comments from me about how I am trying to resist buying Carthaginians, which I have done for 4 years and 7 months. I think that is a record for me :)

Paul's , that is a very useful and comprehensive link.

The problem with Carthaginians is that two years later you discover you now have Gauls, Iberians, and Numidians too.

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
