Yes, you are probably right, in the 3rd millennium BC at least most peasants in areas with armies are likely to be in kilt rather than tunic.

I fear I tend to use BC/BCE and AD/CE depending on what I've been reading most recently as much as anything. BC/AD is what I was brought up with but in truth I prefer BCE/CE when I remember.

I've no real problem with either, as you say it's the same dating system just with different letters.
