What is ICM at what are the rules for it?

In the armylists you can buy ICM. But I cannot find any references to it anywhere in the rulebook.

Improved Conventional Munitions - ie cluster munitions. Use the rules for cluster bombs in the aircraft section until Mark gives a ruling. Buying it is for 1 shot.

As Lord Kermit says - ICM covers a whole host of similar & varied type of munitions - all types of air or artillery launched 'cluster' munitions.

Thanks.

Hopefully that is made a bit more clear in future updates. Either in armylists or an errata.

ICM is the standard military acronym for this family of weapons - the trouble with these types of munitions is that they are hugely diverse in nature. However, I'll ensure that this is clarified & stated clearly in the Rules Errata.

NB: I've had a number of requests to note the actual armament of the aircraft listed in the army lists.
TBF this has proven to be a monumental & an almost impossible task, for a number of reasons:

1) on-going confidentiality/secrecy issues - often even many decades after the aircraft have been withdrawn from active service finding this information is really difficult/impossible. NB: it is often easier to establish the attack-loads of old Soviet Communist aircraft as a lot of this information has been posted on-line since the fall of the USSR, than it is to establish whether a 1980's UK or US aircraft would have delivered which weapons.

2) many modern aircraft have weapon points capable of carrying many different weapon loads (even on an improvised basis) and so it's often the available operational armouries that will dictate what weapons are carried. Napalm tanks are a classic case in question - most aircraft that can carry additional fuel tanks that they can drop/discard can replace these with Napalm cannisters.

3) political considerations - the fact that an aircraft 'could' deliver Napalm or Chemical weapons etc. and that the country concerned has that weapon in its armory, doesn't mean that they will publicly admit to this, or under what circumstances such munitions would be used.

4) the fact that an aircraft has a certain set of munition capabilities (in it's manufacturers service) doesn't mean that it has the same capabilities in another countries service or if it has that capability to deliver such munitions, its user may not have these weapons.

So ... in the up & coming Updated Army Lists all aircraft (unless specifically stated otherwise) will have HE munitions as standard, and where I have been able to verify specifically that the aircraft could carry another type of munition(s) these are listed (& the capability needs to be purchased to be used).
But as always I would encourage players to do your own research - in my mind that is an important part of the hobby  :)

Thanks

I am well aware what it is. It was just not clear what it was in game terms. As there is no mention of ICM in the rulebook.

The præcise munition type is not that important for me. (and please don't get bogged down in trying to distinguish between nations munition types and dogmas for use.) I realise that the rules are a simulation of approximate real life effects. I just find that there are so many discrepancies between the rules and the army lists that need clarifications.
