Sovjet minimum inf

Why dies the Sovjet army has such a high number of minimum infantry? 6 units pr 1000 points. Most armies in second edition dont even have minimum infantry so why that much for the Sovjet?

This has been answered on a previous errata thread.

The reason is that unlike other Cold War forces, such as the French for example, who can field an entire formation with only Armoured Cars in it. Soviet Doctrine was combine arms and that even Tank Brigades had Mechanised Infantry attached. But as always - you can choose to use actual OOBs (in which case you'll probably have to take even more infantry) instead or no infantry at all.
