Can't find any difference between German and Hungarian general officer uniforms so I would surmise they are both the same apart from the cavalry (more later).

General officers were encouraged to wear 'gala' dress when representing the army in the field or at court (undress uniform for on campaign, Dienstuniform in the barracks).

So in 1806 Gala dress, new style General officers coat in line with infantry officers. White coat with upright collar square cut german cuffs, 9 gilt buttons at the breast. Pockets and tails straight edged laced. General's coat single 4cm width gold lace upper leading edge of collar down front of coat and outer edge of tails. Cuffs trimmed at upper and traling edges with 2 bands of wide lace for Feldzeugmeister and General der Kavallerie; single band for Feldmarchal-Leutnant, Generalmajor and Generalfeldwachtmeister.
The Undress uniforms considerably plainer and the same for all General officers, plain white coat, scarlet cuffs, lace trim denoting rank, scarlet turnbacks for senior officers and white for the Generalmajor.
Dienstuniform was a uniformrock of same cut light sea-blue in colour, collar cuffs and turnbacks scarlet. Turnbacks red with gold lace.
Generalfeldwachtmeister der Artillerie same dress uniform as other generals but frequently depicted wearing Dienstuniform with dark blue coat.
Note: Gala uniform reserved for state and Royal occasions by 1809 and not used again until after 1815. So I'd go with Undress uniform!
Breeches were scarlet.
General's pattern great coat pewter grey with deep Swedish collar scarlet gold lace, cuffs Swedish and scarlet, gold lace. Double breasted coat two rows large gilt buttons.

Hungarian General officers of cavalry 1806 regs -
Headgear - Brown fox fur Kolpack with scarlet flamme and white feather.
Dolman - Scarlet, gold lace on the collar
Pelz - White with white silk lining, black or brown fur trim, gold braid galons on the breast.
Breeches - Scarlet with elaborate gold hungarian knot braiding on thighs.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Matt

Thank you so much for that info, most helpful.
I had suspected (and from what I've gleaned from the internet) that the uniforms were the same pretty much as their German counterparts.
My one issue is with the Hungarian Cav you mention. The figures I have are Pendraken and they are wearing a long coat and a shako. It would appear that pendraken sadly do not do Hungarian cav brigade officers, just the information brigade ones ☹️
Again any help/thoughts much appreciated.  Maybe just use hussar figs themselves painted up as officers?

Many thanks
Kind regards

The general officers in the Austro-Hungarian army were drawn from all parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and could be German, Hungarian, Italian or even Belgian in origin.  The generals' uniform was as described above, white with red breeches.  NPA26 High Command are the figures you need for all formation commanders (Brigade/Division/Corps).  NPA8 in the coat and shako is not a general officer but battalion/regimental commander.  Other mounted officers are also battalion/regimental commanders though you could paint NPA4 German Officer to represent a general officer.  If you really need a general in hussar uniform, I suggest the hussar figure in NPB25 ADCs/Generals from the British Peninsular range would work.  The other two figures in the group could be modified easily to represent Austrians (or French, or any number of different nationalities) I think, so they wouldn't be wasted.  You can source lots of suitable figures from other Pendraken Napoleonic ranges that can be painted as Austrian generals as they are or, with a little ingenuity, modified to represent them.  For a general overview of Austro-Hungarian generals' uniforms and personalities you could do worse than get a copy of the Osprey Elite 'Austrian Commanders of the Napoleonic Wars 1792-1815' by Dave Hollins.
