Pray for the prey, predators are predating

My main Xmas present, arrived in two parts, the first part a series of 3-d prints via Etsy. Figures from 'Prey'

The second part arrived today and will hit the painting table tomorrow.
Yautja vs Commanche.
One of my all time favourite movies is Predator and more especially Predator II (which I snuck out of home to watch to while I was recuperating from flu in 1990, aged 15 to watch an 18, but enough of that), I was not perticularlly impressed by further sequels, but the Prey came out and I REALLY enjoyed it.

I looked and looked for Naru, the hero of the film, until I came across this warband on Etsy, and ordered it.

Naru, just perfect sculpt, and lovely to paint.

Full of detail

Even her tomahawk on a rope

That's a faceoff and a half

The Yautja, not the full feral Yautja, and not the techno predators of the earlier films, but close.

It's a great sculpt/print

Good blades

Hunting the Commanche hunters, who will no doubt be used as Primative Infantry in Xenos Rampant and Skraelings for Saga or in Black Powder as local tribes or...

Great poses

The cloak was a lot of fun

Excellent job Will, I really like the Comanche minis.

Skraelings from Footsore Miniatures.
Twelve archers, eight warriors, another hero and five totems. That gives me a three point Skraelings warband at the moment, or three Xenos Rampant primative infantry units and a general.
Warriors

Shield patterns are based around surviving Commanche shields so they blend in with my other batch.

Good looking guys!

Hope no-one minds me mixing cultures, byut the Commanche have an awful lot more research than the Thule people/Skraelings!

Advance!

Not heaily armoured, but hit and run specialists

Levy archers, less well equiped sorts.

Lots of animation in them.

Fun figures to paint

War chief

Bossy bossy!

Already looming over  the rest of his tribe!

Totems - five different sorts, each one has a different effect in Saga, but they look cool too. I went as natural as I could for these, although the tempation was to go primary colours, it did not feel right without more research into Thule colour usage.

Couger, beaer, elk, bear, eagle

Nicely done.

Love the Prey figures. Not seen the movie, yet. When I was at Primary School I was a bit obsessed about the Predator movies (the Yautja) & bored everyone around me silly. Not bad for a 10 year old. But then I did write about watching Robocop when I was 6 or 7, and how someone got shot in the "willy". Ah, the 1980s. The good old days, when teachers thought nothing of being told by a small child that they watched a 18-rated movie over the weekend, that dealt with cop killings, murder, drug use, semi-nudity, lots of profanity, and violence.

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

When I was at Primary School all we had were painting on cave walls and if you wanted a snack you had to go bop a mammoth on the head, gut it, skin it, butcher it and cook it! At least the wall paintings were paused so you didn't have to sit through the thing 'til it got back to where you left it.

I'm confused by the response to my post, to be honest. I do have autism, so somethings are beyond my comprehension, if I'm being honest. Have I said something wrong, and if so, could someone explain it to me, please?

Also, (from another thread) Duke Speedy of Leighton, what did you get that was "impressive" after reaching 25,000 posts? The yellow boxes?

Nothing wrong, apart from the movie over here was an 18, so a ten year old seeing it is really something
The rest of it is usually devolving into this :

Robocop (1987) is an 18 certificate in the UK (now, as it was then) and I saw it when it first came out on VHS, so I would have been 6 years old. I wasn't the first person among my young peers to have seen it, either. Seeing the (1987) movie Predator was a mistake, as we'd rented out the wrong video, but I was still allowed to watch it.

Absolutely nothing wrong in what you said!

As with many here, I am "a gentleman of a certain age" as my doctor recently put it! By the 1980's I'd been to University and then done a post-grad qualification never mind been primary school. I was married with kids.

It is traditional here for those of us in our dotage to gently rib younger members. If you are aware of The Four Yorkshiremen sketch you may catch echoes of it in some of the responses.

If you are not aware of The Four Yorkshiremen sketch then I commend it to you -

Nothing wrong with your post Roy, just some of the more 'veteran' members were surprised that Predator came out when you were a youngster!

I had a similar experience, though I was maybe around 10 when I saw Robocop, I think it was a sanitized version though. I saw Predator a bit later, and that scared the life out of me. Any of those films I wasn't supposed to see, I saw at my Grandparents, as my uncles who were still living at home in their twenties were less responsible than my parents, and sometimes let us sit in when they rented videos. I voluntarily avoided Aliens though as even the poster in the rental place frightened me.

Finally managed to watch the film the other week - enjoyed it. Now I'm waiting to see what the new Alien film (Alien Romulus) is like.
