So it's that time of the year again, well not for a few days but I'm full of cold and can't use a brush without sneezing. So, what did I do in 2023 and what am I planning for 2024?

Painting
This year I have (so far) painted 5271 figures and other things. I've finished off a number of minor projects and a couple of more substantial ones. The big ones that I finished are
  • Dark Age Arabs
  • 1314 English & Scottish
  • 2nd Bishops' War Scots
  • Napoleonic Danes
  • Napoleonic Swedes
  • Napoleonic Poles
  • Cold War Soviets and British (Chieftans & FV432s)

I've magnificently failed to complete the Napoleonic Ottoman troops, or either of the WSS armies that I probably bought in 2014.

I have repainted some French tanks from WWII that were, upon reflection badly painted to begin with. Also had great fun painting Techno's Night Terrors  :D and the Char 2Cs

Games
For some reason I've not logged the games I've played. I did enjoy the T35/T28 vs Char 2c/Char B1 insanity, and putting the BTR60s against the US in 1984. I also refought(-ish) Bannockburn (which the Scots won again) and a Korea War scenario which proved the superiority of the Centurion tank.

2023 into 2024
I've started painting a Royalist force to be destroyed go against the Covenanters, and mixing that with (you guessed it) Napoleonic Ottoman troops. I'd like to finish off the WSS as well, but am struggling with an enthusiam defecit.

I've ordered a cod Arthurian force, which is totally not historical, but fun and a bit silly, with a special guest figure. I'm also part way through purchasing a Napoleonic French force. It's cavalry heavy but based on a real OOB.

2024
Looking at my spreadsheet, I can see that I have very few new forces at the unstarted project stage.
  • Ancient Indians - Leon has said these are being updated. Soon as I buy any, the new range will be released. It's just a case of who will blink first. (70% chance)
  • ECW Parliamentarian: I've based my C17 forces on the 2nd Bishops'War. This will come, but I need a change from pikemen and musheteers. (50%)
  • Russo-Japanese War - definitely. Especially not that there are flags. May need a rethink, instead of making it a larges skirmish, possibly do the same as I did for the ACW - infantry bttns of 30 or so.  :-\ (80%)
  • Napoleonic Portuguese, Spanish, Saxon or Neapolitan. Three of those are in white uniforms.  :(  (60%)
  • WWI: 1914 or 1918? Can't really muster the enthusiasm. (20%)
  • Vietnam: Another reason for Centurions, but there's all that terrain.  :(  (20%)

Pendraken to the Rescue!
Looking forward to the expansions of the Pendraken catalogue. Certainly the SF figures will be of interest (I have invested in another set of SF rules in preparation), and mayhap the Amazons will mosey along at some point.

I have 2 major focus points remaining.

Pendraken relevant:

And a few additional African archers.

Other:

Finish painting 15mm Ottoman foot

Once finished, I might take a look at 10mm WW2 contingents for Crossfire.

2023
I finally got a 3d Printer and learnt how to use it - although it does drive me to exasperation some times. As I feared it allows me to produce loads of stuff (mainly terrain and Buildings cheaply that I then have to paint.

I finished my 20mm WW2 French Platoon and supports for Chain of command. 100 odd figures and 8 Vehicles
I also assembled and painted 26 20mm vehicles.

Also painted a number of 20mm vehicles for Seelow and early WW2
