What do you use?

I've been having a revamp, and contemplating that I use remarkably few tools for the hobby. To wit:

  • Craft knife(Drll)
  • Dremmel (Drll)
  • Dremmel (grind)
  • Files (3 assorted)(grind)
  • Clips (most recent addition - don't know how I did without them)
  • Scissors (for flags etc)

Obviously, I have glues (PVA, Copydex, Uhu, Superglue) and brushes; lolly sticks, paint and rulers.

Am I missing something really great that's going to upgrade my painting?

How about a dental pick with a fine point for starting a drill hole?

Also, how is your sight?  An Optivisor or something similar (as we get older).

I also use museum putty to hold parts together while they are gluing - primarily when I use epoxy.

Hmm ...

I tend to use the craft knife with a fine point for drilling.  I tried an optivisor, but have gone back to reading glasses.

The putty is a good call. Especially for artillery pieces.  :-\

Thank you.

A hemostat.
Useful for holding a one-off figure for painting. Might also be useful in the case of a deep x-acto accident.

A box of toothpicks.
Useful for doing a one-off paint touch-up since the tip will fit into the nozzle of a Vallejo bottle. Also, nice to chew on when painting.

A mini-maglite. Very helpful in finding figures dropped on the floor.

A good craft lamp.
Blu Tak.
Toothpicks (mentioned above) for spreading glue.
Cardboard (maintaining unit integrity during painting).

I have two of those (or very similar). One for each eye.
