Hi,
I try to translate some BP's scenario in 10 mm. But for the Sudan, I must choose the British in the Boer's war range ?
If you have some picture it will be great.
Thanks

Captain Verbeek

Just started the Sudan myself, I have a few pics of the British officer on horse painted as my namesake, and in older posts pics of the British firing and advancing painted.

hope this helps.

Thank you Captain Lucien.
For my question : you use the English in the "Boer range" ?

Captain Verbeek

Sorry, no I use the Zulu British but I am going to order some of the kneeling Boer war british to see if they look ok to use with the others so I can make a proper firing line.

I too am using the British infantry from the Zulu war line for the Sudan.

Nicofig

OK. The British in the Zulu range are not many  :-[ So I thinked use the Boer range for more diversity. I am not a specialist about Colonials so I don't know if the uniform is the same.

Nicofig

Hum, sorry.  :-[
The Boer range are more british figures than Zulu range. Do you think I can use this range for Sudan ?
Thank you

Captain Verbeek

It all depends on you.  In 10mm I say go for it.  Paint them up in gray and make them Sudan British.  They will look more like the reconquest of the Sudan period 1898 more than the earlier Sudan Gordon relief expedition 1882ish but I am not that hard core about uniforms and at three feet they will look ok.  I am going to mix in the kneeling pose with my Zulu british.  Hope this helps.

ITs not the same colour.

The Zulu War was the classic 'redcoat' era.

In the Sudan, the redcoat had given way to khaki.

That said at leas one regiment still wore the red.

The Sudan was also a real mix of regiments including a lot of naval troops who wore blue/grey serge.

That said, the webbing pattern also changed but not so's you'd notice at 10mm!
