I am a keen proponent of generals, field officers, and ADCs in pre-1900 forces. My rule sets have a role for officers and orders can only be changed by being carried by a gallant ADC.

Thus, you will see many, many of the better classes boldly leading their underlings. Generally (no pun intended), my needs are well catered for. The ADC figures in the Peninsular range sent shovers up my spine, but I am currently ankle deep in Marlburians, and I am somewhat distressed that there are few suitable general officers.

Where is my Churchill? Wither Eugene? I cannot find de Marsin nor Villars nor Vendome. Surely they deserve the sculptors touch?

I am reduced to snaffling from the 7YW range.

You need to go slightly backwards in time rather than forwards fsn, then I think you will find what you are looking for already exists in the League of Ausberg range:

In large round hats with lots of plumage (French?)

LOA35 Dismounted command group (3 + 1 horse) £1.20 £1.00 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 3 foot figures, 1 horse

LOA36 Mounted command, standing (7) £3.00 £2.50 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 7 figures (7 poses)

LOA37 Mounted command, moving (7) £3.00 £2.50 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 7 figures (7 poses)

In tricornes (British & Allies?)

LOA38 Dismounted command group, tricorn £1.20 £1.00 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 3 foot figures, 1 horse

LOA39 Mounted command, standing, tricorn (7) £3.00 £2.50 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 7 figures (7 poses)

LOA40 Mounted command, moving, tricorn (7) £3.00 £2.50 (ex. VAT)
Pack contains 7 figures (7 poses)

I have used some of the round hatted figures as generals and staff in my War of the 3 Kingdoms armies and the figures are very, very nice.....I think Clib is the sculptor for that range?

Anyway have a look, I'm sure you can find something suitable there :)

Sir, I tip my tricorne to you.

I must confess that I have never looked at the League of Ausburg range. I have in the past taken some friendly pot shots at this range, frankly because at one point there seemed to be (to my mind) superfluous additions to it: I remember (possibly incorrectly) there were calls for grenadier with dyspepsia, dragoons trying to work out how to split the bill and Junior cavalry officer who has just found out that foreign food and impending battle are not conducive to good hygiene.* Again, I must reiterate that my exact memory of the details may be a trifle hazy.

Also, as you point out, I think of the League of Ausburg as being fought by gentlemen in large floppy hats.

I am pleased and gratified to be wrong, and to have learned something. Any day you learn something is a good day.

Thank you.

I am drifting into the 3rd, 4th and 5th Bishops' Wars (AKA W3K, AKA ECW) and shall certainly have a look at the floppy hats for my command.

*Also farrier who is concerned about a stubborn blood stain on his apron, matchlockmen joshing their comrade who has just fired off his ramrod - again, artilleryman with a disconcerting leak in his left boot, artilleryman with disconcerting leak in his right boot, Welsh artilleryman with disconcerting leek left in his boot, arabalester in chain mail wondering if he's been wrongly categorised, horse that has just worked out unified field theory and farrier with axe, matchlockmen and matchlock cats and dogs wondering who Lowry is and why is that tune so catchy ...

More than that, Sir, more than of just some value. You pointed to exactly what I was seeking.

Many thanks.
