I know there are starter armies  for the Korean War, but with the release of the Forgotten War, can we have packs specifically for the CWC rules?

As it stands the starter armies are 120 infantry, a pack of martars and figures for HQs. That's probably more infantry than usually needed for CWC and there's no AFVs.

One more point. Having played our first game of BKC last week, the starter armies actually give a fun game for an evenings entertainment, so are perfect for a typical club night.

Having now typed this, I appreciate I am victim of the lazy culture where we expect or need all to be laid out on a plate for us with little effort on our part. What can I say? I'm old. Now get off lawn you pesky kids!

Forgotten war is based on BKC4

and you need a lot of infantry for anything coming from the north!

I'm sure Leon will corroborate this, but he is working on 'Forgotten War' starter & army packs.

TBF there was generally not a lot of armour in Korea, and what there was was spread pretty thin.
With the new releases of artillery - packs with guns, gun crew and tows (lorries etc) will be on the list as well.

As stated above, for the Chinese expect a lot of Infantry and Infantry Support with artillery and logistical supports. Similar for the North Koreans but with a tank pack or two.

But we'll get there with all this.
NB: I suppose it also depends upon just how big or small you want the packs to be?
For example - for the North Korean Tank Regiments - you could go small (e.g. 3 x T34/85s + 1 x SU-76 + another T34/85 as your HQ)
or
You could go big (e.g. 9 x T34/85s + 3 x SU-76s + another 4 x T34/86s as your CO + 3 x HQ + 3 x Lorries and Infantry & MGs as your supporting Infantry company + a 4x4 & officer pack as the Infantry HQ. You could add to that 3 x 120mm mortars and crew as your off-table artillery support. You might also add some infantry on foot or bicycles or in 4x4s as Recce)

It would be interesting to see if there were many 'takers' for the full Tank Regiment Pack ?

Suggested ideas for packs would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Mark

Yes sorry, I keep forgetting its a BKC supplement  although CWC does stretch back to pre Korea.

And yes  lots of infantry is probably more useful, so those packs  available already are good value. Though playing a game with 30 infantry bases seems a lot! 😂

IIRC one of the scenarios in the book has the Chinese force at about 100K, that's alot of blokes whatever representative scale you are working at!

I believe it was included to drive sales  :D

As Mark says, we're looking to release some starter sets for CWC-2 and Forgotten War as well, hopefully in the next couple of months.  They'll be a similar structure to the BKC Starter armies, so I'd held off for while until we had more things like artillery and soft skins available for all of our post-WWII ranges.

Breaking news...manufacturer advises consumer to hold off buying something, so that they get what they're looking for at a later date!

Cheers Leon...

I have plenty to go at so it can wait a bit  :D On a short break in Harlech at the moment. When I have little to do, my wife has to hide the credit card as I trawl the Pendraken website dreaming up new projects 😅🤣😂

I think there's enough temptation there already without me adding new starter armies into the mix!

I really need to get some post-war transports done for the US/Brits/Soviets so that's going to be next on the list hopefully.  The new vehicle designer has got a couple of them in his portfolio already so they should be an easy addition.

I've already got the North and South starter armies, might a fill in to boost them to FW standards be available?  8->
