As the title says, any chance to add ultramodern PLA equipment (ZTD05, Type 99...) :-[

Hi Roland

For now there are no plans to expand CWCII into the 'ultra-modern' e.g. post 1990.

My personal view is that all that is too recent and whilst things change with time, and we might (at some point hence) move towards an 'Ultra-modern' supplement, for now the focus is on a completing the CWC army list and then Future War Commander II.

The other challenge with extending CWC is a practical one - the limitations imposed by a D:6 driven set of rules mechanisms is that by introducing an extension to cover modern weaponry you end up with real issues. With post WW2 equipment at one end and an Armata tank at the other it really doesn't work.

But I suspect that a lot of the core FWCII mechanisms would allow you to recreate ultra-modern warfare - with a bit of adaption. So 'new' weapons such as drones and existing FWC weapons such as smart missiles and reactive armour (already in FWC) will help you create ultra-modern units. FWCII will also have a revamped unit calculator, that means you can create your own units to play with, in an equitable manner.

I'll be keeping the forum posted as the FWCII rewrite project progresses  :)

Cheers

For once I agree with Mark (Shock Horror). The major problem is that we don't know how things work with the most modern kit - either it hasn't been used in combat or is still classified. There is also the question of taste, it seems to me that coving stuff happening now is not something we should do.

Understand the reluctance, yet the mind is curious how certain units would play out on the table.

Good idea with FWC2 and I am sure Leon has put me down for a copy  :-[

I think Pendraken should carry on moving forward in time. I'd like to see *ahem* Chieftain, S-tank, Leopard I,  Abrams, Merkava, T72 etc, etc before we move to ultra modern.
