Just received an order I placed for a few ww2 russian packs. The tanks are particularly nice. I picked up a pack of tank commanders, I'm just trying to work out how to fit them. Do people drill the hatch out and just have it missing so you can fit the commander?

Firstly welcome on board :) .

As to your point, I imagine that is what is done, but have never tried it myself. Plasticard, or decent cardboard would make a good open hatch cover once the figure is in place.

I tend to just fix on where the hatch is on smaller scale stuff (mostly 6's).

Welcome and enjoy

Where I've done it, I have slightly sanded down the hatch, and added plasticard hatches.

Depends on hatch shape and scale. Would usually drill with precut card/sequin  Leaves or circle added as superglue drying a bit. 1/285 or 1/200, might just 'tease' nearly dry glue up a bit. Helps if commander cut down a little... not many stand up in hatch in contact!
