We're continuing to get some of our older Fantasy ranges revamped and back onto the website, so the Beestmen are now available again!  Techno has created an extra 4 poses per pack, including new weapons and a few new heads as well, so we've now got sheep, rat and eagle heads in amongst this lot.

"The Beestmen are a nomadic race with loyalty only to themselves.  They can be bought with treasure or lands and will fight ferociously for their latest employer until the money runs out...  As such, they can be incorporated into most other armies as paid mercenaries."

I like these. I already have quite a few of the originals, but these could be tempting to expand that army!

With the archers is the difference just in the new heads?

There's a few little tweaks on those, so going from left-to-right of the 5 poses:
- 1st one is an eagle head
- 2nd one is in chainmail
- 3rd is the original
- 4th is a higher angled bow
- 5th has had a pouch added to his belt

The bow arms can be moved as well to get a more irregular firing line.

My suggestion with adding variants to figures is that the profile matters a lot. So with the archers the variations are rather lost as the pose is very much the same. With the warriors and spears as the weapon profile changes it makes the figures look more different. And this will be the case when they are based up as a unit. Hopefully something that can be considered in the future.

I know what you mean and we'll have a look at that on future revamps.  It comes down to cost mainly and whether we can tweak something for a reduced price or need to spend more on new poses.

Makes sense. I'd take 1 new pose over 3 tweaks, but have no idea on the cost side of that equation

Surely that depends somewhat on the state of discipline you are wishing to depict?
I generally want my regular/drilled/veteran troops to be in similar poses. And my irregular types with a lot of variety.

Wasn't there a saying associated with either the Thirty Years War or ECW that you could spot a green/newly recruited regiment at a distance by the way that all their pikes all wavered?

I want my High Elf archers shooting in volleys, but equally I want my Orc archers shooting individually and at random.
But having been involved in making casting molds in the past I totally understand the practical issues/limitations.
