Apologies for Farcebook link, they don't make it easy... anyway, Newcastle Castle have contacted the BHGS to ask if anyone wants to set up a wargames group (or host some games...) in the castle...

I know Pendraken proper might be a bit away but I figure there's some of you up in the north east might like a crack...

Parking in that area is poor.
Congestion charging due soon, so £12+ per visit a possibility.
Nice idea though.

Heedless Horseman

Nice idea but not a competitive or club type, so not for me.
Central Station and Metro not all that far for a shortish walk (5mins)...and 10mm army plus mat not too bulky to tote along?

Yeah, that's always a big advantage to 10mm! Not so back breaking...

A real castle offering to host a wargames club on a regular basis!  An opportunity like that doesn't happen every day.  Why the apology about the Facebook link?  Have I missed something.

Facebook collects data on visitors to the site whether you have an account with them or not, many people do not visit Facebook at all if they can help it for that reason.

I see.  I thought most web-sites did that.  I'm not sure I see it as a major problem quite honestly.

Depends what they gather it for John, no?

Personally, I loathe Facebook with a passion and don't trust the company further than I could throw it into the teeth of a howling gale with both hands tied behind my back!

It is a vexation to the spirit and I am glad to be done with it.

Besides, no one with so much as an ounce of street cred would be seen dead on there. It's full of OLD people! Or so I was assured by a friend's teenage daughter recently.

My visits to Twitch, Tik Tok and Reddit passed muster however. Phew! :)

I know what the conspiracy sites say it collects information for, and those wanting to sell me a VPN (contrary to popular belief a VPN doesn't prevent Twitface collecting information but they do have other uses).  I also know what Facebook has collected about me, I can see it via settings.

Other than browsing history, and Twitface is far from unique in that respect, I'm happy say that it is not very much and it tells me I have no 'friends' (no comedians at this point please).

I don't use it for mindless chit-chat, as women and, apparently, old people do.  I use it to access some period specific wargaming groups and I would be appalled if I thought I had even an ounce of street cred, that's for ghastly young people.

In the meantime, I'm going to stay calm and put the tin-foil away.

'Cos I'd have liked to post a direct link, or at least an non-mobile, straight to the actual post version, but FB makes that very hard work.

Also, there's quite a lot of people just won't do Facebook full stop!
