Have you thought about getting some one to do a simple painting demo at the shows you attend :-\, I would think many people do not understand how easy good results can be acheived :o. I know you have some talented painters on your books and who does not like spending a day painting. :D.

Good idea, I found that getting into 10 mm definitely involves a treshold.  Troop choice, assembly, painting and basing (or vice-versa) all can be daunting for the newcomer, and you'll want to make that as gentle a slope as possible!

PS. I can travel with you, I just expect limo transport, bubbles at breakfast, and lobster on a stick for lunch, maybe a nice assistent to rub my shoulders?  Whaddaya say?  8)

It's a great idea, but there'd be a couple of things to consider.  We've only got a limited amount of space at the shows, and finding a couple of feet's worth of painting space would be tricky.  Also, we wouldn't really be able to pay someone much to do it, and most wargamers would prefer to be browsing the show rather than chained to a table all day!

If space at a lot of the shows wasn't so pricy, I'd love to do a lot of other things.  One thing I'd considered was a kind of 'Relax Station' with a couple of 'poser tables' (that's what they're called...  :D )  and chairs for gamers to chill out and examine their (Pendraken) purchases.  I'm also looking into the feasibility of taking a laptop to the shows for people to browse the website for anything we don't have on the stand.

True, true.

Maybe the painting demo could take place next to a game.  An advantage of the small scale: on a 4x6 foot table there's room enough for some painting.  Finding people will depend on how many are visiting, maybe a few people could take turns?  Pendraken fans would love to do that for some kind of nice discount voucher or some other creative arrangement, I suppose?
I can't say anything about any other shows, but at Crisis at least I can confirm that there is a fast wireless network available in the exhibition hall, that is not related to the show organisation, so it's not overpopulated coz there's a show on..  You can get a login for one day (or I could and deliver the invoice) and offer that possibility without a problem.  Alternatively, you can always save an offline version of the site.
The poser tables would be brilliant, but I  can see how something like that eats up room fast.

Oh well, that's what brainstorming is for, and 95% of the ideas is bound to be hard to implement, but it doesn't hurt to try  :)

Thanks for the offer, it's definitely something to think about for the future.  We'd probably have to move up to 18ft stands at all the shows first.

Painting Demos?

I'll get the placards...
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
